FairfieldMary Vivian CLARK, 84, of Fairfield passed away on Sunday, August 23, 2020, at the Mahaska Health Partnership Hospice House in Oskaloosa, Iowa (note: in Mahaska Co., IA).
Mary was born on August 4, 1936, in Missouri, the daughter of Ray & Nita DUNKIN. She was united in marriage to Dempsey HESSENFLOW, he preceded her in death . She later married Merle CLARK on January 1, 1981, in Mountain Home, Arkansas. Before her marriage she worked at various places including River Products in Columbus City, Iowa. After her marriage to Merle she helped him on the farm. Mary was a wonderful seamstress, making quilts and she loved her dogs, Sam and Shep, along with her cats.
She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Merle of Fairfield, and her children, Janice MUNSON, Ed HESSENFLOW, Joyce CLARK, David HESSENFLOW and Julie Ann ADAMS, along with several grandchildren and great grandchildren, her brothers, Fred DUNKIN and Raymond DUNKIN and her sisters, Lillian CLARK, Jean GRAY and Opal THORNBURG, her stepchildren, Debra COX, Jerry CLARK and Julie KYLE.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Dempsey, her son, Everett HESSENFLOW, one sister, Lucille TOLLE and two brothers, Trulan DUNKIN and Leon DUNKIN.
Graveside Services will be held on Friday August 28, 2020, at 11:00 a.m. at the Howard Grove Cemetery rural Pleasant Plain, Iowa. Friends may call after 2 p.m. on Thursday at the Murphy Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant where the fmaily will be present from 6 to 7:30 that evening. A memorial has been established in her memory.
