MRS. BOURNE, FORMERLY OF FAIRFIELD, DIES

Mrs. Josephine BOURNE, former well-known resident and school teacher in Fairfield, passed away Sunday, January 30th, at 11:30 a.m. at Jacksonville, IL. Her death came as a result of a minor operation, followed by pneumonia and complications.

The body will be brought to Fairfield for burial. Funeral services will be at the Hoskins funeral home Wednesday at 3:00 p.m.

Mrs. BOURNE, the former Josephine McCONNELL, was born May 5, 1898, at Volga City, Iowa, the daughter of the late Joseph E. and Melvina McCONNELL. She moved to Fairfield with her parents and attended the public schools here. She was a graduate of the Fairfield high school and alter (sic - later) attended Parsons College and the State Teacher's College at Cedar Falls.

After completing her education, Mrs. BOURNE taught in schools in Libertyville and Centerville, and for a number of years was a teacher in the Lincoln grade school in this city.

She was married June 21, 1920, to Jesse F. BOURNE. To this union was born one daughter, Frances Josephine, who passed away April 24, 1938. Immediately prior to her death, Mrs. BOURNE had served on the staff of the state hospital in Jacksonville, Ill. She was a member of the Methodist church and a past matron of the O.E.S.

Mrs. BOURNE is survived by her husband and the following sisters; Mrs. John H. KYLE, Mrs. Maude E. ANDERSON and Mrs. Anna R. SIMMONS, all of Fairifeld; two brothers, Ralph E. McCONNELL, Bettendorf, and Harold C. McCONNELL, Oakland, Cal. Also surviving are 12 nieces and nephews.

... --Mrs. John POLLOCK of Douds, has arrived in Fairfield, being called here by the death of her aunt, Mrs. Josephine BOURNE, who passed away on Sunday at Jacksonville, Ill. Mrs. POLLOCK will be remembered as Miss Doris SIMMONS daughter of Mrs. Anna SIMMONS, 705 North Main street, a sister of Mrs. BOURNE. Funeral services are to be held at Hoskins funeral home this afternoon at 3 o'clock, with Rev. J. I. Dool in charge.
