Velvah Irene BONNETT

Velvah Irene BONNETT, 83, a resident of Nelson Nursing Home since May 1985, died at 1:05 a.m. today, Monday, Dec. 20, 1993, at Jefferson County Hospital.

The service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Raymond Funeral Home with Dan Schramm, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Family visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials have been established to Seventh Day Adventist Church and Nelson Nursing Home Activity Fund.

Mrs. BONNETT was born Oct. 16, 1910, in Birmingham, the daughter of Odell and Mattie Anna MARSHALL TEETER. She was reared in Birmingham until the family moved to Fairfield in 1922. She married John William BONNETT on Sept. 12, 1928, in Fairfield. He died Feb. 16, 1967. A homemaker, she lived in the Libertyville community for most of her married life, moving to Fairfield in 1975. She was one of the first residents of Logan Apartments when it opened June 1, 1978. She was a member of Seventh Day Adventist Church. One of her pastimes was making latch hook rugs.

Surviving are three daughters, Dolores FIELDS of Libertyville, Fern CAVES of Galesburg, Ill., Sharon POTTER of Fairfield; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. A daughter, Marlene E. SANAGHAN, two brothers, Elvert and Elmer Kenneth TEETER, and two sisters, Alberta POPEJOY and Marie CHRISINGER, preceded her in death.
