John Paul BLAKLEY, 61, of Route 2, died at 12:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 14, 1994, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City (note: in Johnson Co., IA).
The service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Behner Funeral Home with the Rev. William Sullivan officiating. Burial, with military rites, will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation is open at the funeral home where prayers for a Christian wake will be conducted at 7 tonight, followed by family visitation. The casket will be closed. Memorials may be made to St. Mary Catholic Church or the family.
BLAKLEY was born Oct. 20, 1932, at Richmond in Washington County, the son of John William and Ruth STUMPF BLAKLEY. He married Donna KNUPP on Sept. 12, 1994, in Memphis, Mo. A resident of Jefferson County for most of his life, he was employed for more than 30 years with the Jefferson County Road Department as foreman until his retirement Aug. 26. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in the Korean conflict. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church.
Surviving are his wife; a son, Michael C. BLAKLEY, Libertyville; a daughter, Darla K. BLAKLEY of Nashville, Tenn.; two stepdaughters, Sharon DECKER of Oskaloosa, Elaine ALLMAN of Ottumwa; two granddaughters; six stepgrandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren; two brothers, Herman of Fairfield, Steve of Mount Pleasant; two sisters, Rose HAMER of Lockridge and Donna COFFIN of Des Moines. His parents, a daughter, Darcy, three brothers, Dennis, Richard and David, preceded him in death.
