BILLHEIMER rites set

Services for Art BILLHEIMER, 54, who was electrocuted early Thursday morning, will be Monday at 2 p.m. at the Weston Behner Funeral Home.

The Rev. David R. Kennedy will officiate and burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted at the grave by the Iowa National Guard and VFW.

The body will lie in state at the funeral home Sunday.

BILLHEIMER was repairing lightning damage to a transformer on a pole at the south edge of Fairfield when he was killed. The accident took place at 7:40 a.m.

Officials of the Iowa Electric Light and Power Company said this morning the investigation involving the accident is continuing and additional company officials will be in Fairfield next week. The company's safety director from Cedar Rapids arrived in Fairfield Thursday.

BILLHEIMER had been an employee of the Iowa Electric Company for 26 years.

Memorial fund

A memorial fund has been established in memory of Art BILLHEIMER, veteran lineman for the Iowa Electric Light and Power Co. who was electrocuted Aug. 17.

Memorials may be left at the Behner Funeral Home, Veterans Club, VFW, and V&F Plumbing.

BILLHEIMER was an ardent sports fan and pitched softball in local leagues for a number of years.

Memorial softball game

A memorial softball doubleheader for Art BILLHEIMER will be played 7 p.m. Tuesday at O. B. Nelson Field between the V&F Plumbing Oldtimers and the Packwood-Fairfield Merchants.

BILLHEIMER was killed Aug. 17, and had been the pitcher for the Oldtimers in the exhibitions against the Merchants in previous years. A collection will be taken at the games for a plaque and benches at the park in BILLHEIMER's memory.

The Oldtimers will average about 51 years of age, according to Zeke VanDeVoorde. Some of the players are Don Hartman, VanDevoorde, Bob Wiseman, Dean Snyder, Bob Harrison, Red Harrison, John Dahl, Jim Allerdice, Dick Horn, Gary Horton, Bill Dunbar, Roy Eubanks, Lee Crew, Pearl Smith, Charlie Boyd, Art Hutton and Dick Unkrich.

The Merchants are undefeated in the city women's league and are 25-11 for the season overall. The roster includes Vickie Myers, Becky Nemecek, Becky Terell, Sue Perry, Linda Salterberg, Kathy Allison, Carol Liblin, Susie Bates, Lee Ann Myers, Teresa Dlouhy, Dee Ann Fitzgerald, Elodie Smith, Barb Siemers and Sandy Davis. The manager is Bill Clark.
