MRS. J. V. BEAN DIES SUDDENLY IN MINNESOTA
Aged Widow Of Dr. BEAN Dies Following Broken Hip

Mrs. J. V. BEAN, 82-year-old widow of Dr. J. V. BEAN, died at 10:30 last evening at the St. Barnabas hospital in Minneapolis. Mrs. BEAN, who formerly lived in Fairfield and who was well known in this vicinity, suffered a broken hip Monday August 14th and death followed resulting complications. Mrs. BEAN was at Isanti, Minn., when she broke her hip. She had been spending the summer with her daughter Mrs. F. M. BYERLY.

The body will be returned to Fairfield and services will be held at the Murray Funeral home on Friday, at 10:30 a.m. The minister who will have charge will be announced later. Burial will be in the Evergreen cemetery.

Mrs. BEAN whose maiden name was Elizabeth WILSON, was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. BEAN, 14 years ago last January in Fairfield. She celebrated her 82nd birthday last May 4th. Dr. BEAN was one of the prominent physicians who practiced in Jefferson county and took and (sic - an) active part in the affairs of the community. Dr. BEAN first served as surgeon in the U. S. Army, and later moved to Fairfield in 1887, after practicing at Mouton and Burlington, Ia.

Mrs. BEAN was a faithful member of Presbyterian church and the wide circle of friends which she had in Fairfield will deeply regret to hear of her passing.

Mrs. BEAN is survived by the following children:

Dr. James W. BEAN, pastor of the First Presbyterian church of Canton, Ohio; Mrs. F. M. BYERLY, Minneapolis, Minn., Edgar BEAN of New York City and Mrs. Hale C. GREENLEAF of this city. She is also survived by one sister, Mrs. Alice ROGERS of Columbus, Ind. She also leaves a number of grand children.

Dr. James BEAN was near Minneapolis at the time of his mother's death, and Edgar BEAN had arrived in Minneapolis, and was there at the time of her death.
