Shirley Kay HARWOOD, 74, of Brighton, died at her home Tuesday, May 19, 2020. She was born June 13, 1945, to Dale Walker and Winetta Corrine VORHIES HARWOOD in Fairfield. Shirley attended Glasgow and Fairfield schools and married Lyle M. JOHNSON on Oct. 27, 1961, and they later divorced. She worked at Mackay Envelope Co. in Mount Pleasant for many years. She enjoyed fishing, coffee with friends and word-find puzzles.

Shirley is survived by her three children, Bonita S. JOHNSON WATERS (Mark) of New London, Crystal JOHNSON RICH (Robert) of Brighton and Brian R. JOHNSON of Brighton; four grandchildren, Caleb WATERS of Mount Pleasant, Ashley RUBENSTEIN of New Zealand, Nicholas RICH of Iowa City and Cody JOHNSON of Fairfield; one great-grandchild, Emerson WATERS of Mount Pleasant; one sister, Sharon HARWOOD VAUGHAN (Dan) of Vandalia, Ohio; three brothers, David HARWOOD (Linda) of Fairfield, Dennis HARWOOD (Vicki) of Denmark, Iowa, and Donald HARWOOD of Glasgow; and sister-in-law, Linda HARWOOD of Fairfield.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Larry HARWOOD; and infant sister, Sheryl Sue HARWOOD.

A private family service will be held in the future. General memorial gifts may be mailed to Crystal RICH, 2672 116th Blvd., Brighton, IA 52540. Gould Funeral Home of Brighton is assisting the family.
