Funeral services for William BARKER were held yesterday afternoon at two o'clock, at the home on South Depot street. Dr. C. L. Tennant conducted the services, and interment was in Evergreen cemetery. Mr. BARKER passed away Saturday afternoon.
William Milton BARKER was born at Keosauqua, Iowa, Jan. 5th. 1857, and at the time of his death was aged sixty-three years. He come to (sic) Jefferson county twelve years ago.
He was married to Laura Belle LOCKWOOD at Keosauqua, Apr. 24, 1879, who with the following children survive him: Mrs. Nora BROWN, Ottumwa, George, Harry, Elbert and Mrs. Gladys BAKER of Fairfield, Mrs. Cecil BENNETT and Mrs. Nina GILLAM, Ottumwa.

*Transcribed for genealogy purposes; I have no relation to the person(s) mentioned.Note: Buried in Lot SDiv.2-029 with wife Laura who died in 1939. In his obituary he's noted as William Milton, but his gravestone shows him as Milton W. It appears he went by either name as a given name, however in his first two censuses (1860 and 1870) he's listed as William M. He actually died on Friday the 11th at 6:00 p.m. according to his death certificate.
