FROM BATAVIA.
Died, in Batavia, Iowa, Dec. 13, 1881, Edith A., daughter of Noah A. and Anna BALDWIN, aged 2 years, 1 month and 13 days.
"Over the river they beckon to me,
Loved ones who have crossed to the further side;
The gleam of their snowy robes I see,
But their voices are lost in the dashing tide."Again has the dark angel entered an earthly home and plucked a tender bud from the wilderness of earth, and transplanted it to expand and bloom in the beautiful garden of god. Little Edith was a sweet and winsome child, unusually bright and intelligent, the pride and joy of her parents and everybody's friend and pet. The stricken parents have the sympathy of the whole community. The shadow falls heavily upon their hearts and their home will indeed by desolate and lonely, now that the patter of the little feet and the innocent prattle of the little tongue will be heard no more. But there is a consolation. When they, too, shall cross the dark river and arrive at the beautiful gate, there will be some one waiting and watching for them.
"I shall know the loved ones who have gone before,
And joyfully sweet will the meeting be,
When over the river, the mystic river,
The angel of death shall carry me."~~~~
