The former Mrs. Arthur "Esther" BAKER, a former resident of Fairfield, was instantly killed in a traffic accident near Sherman, Texas, Saturday evening.
After returning to Texas following the death of Mr. BAKER, she had married Ben PUCKETT of Sherman. they were both killed in the two-car crash.
Word received here Sunday night said Mr. and Mrs. PUCKETT had been to a Christmas Party at the Holiday Inn north of Sherman given by the company with which Mrs. PUCKETT was employed. On the way home shortly before 10 p.m. their car was hit by another. Both were killed instantly.
Last rites will be held at the Barrett Renfro Funeral Home at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Sherman. Burial will be in the Friendship Cemetery (note: in Sherman, TX).
Mr. and Mrs. BAKER were married in Texas in 1944 while he was in the Armed Forces during World War II. After his discharge they made their home in Fairfield where he later became manager of the United Telephone Exchange.
Following his sudden death in 1959 Mrs. BAKER returned to Texas where she later remarried.
