Obituary.

Mary M. HIGLEY was born at Fairfield, Iowa, December 14, 1868, and grew to womanhood here. She suffered the loss of her mother when just approaching womanhood, and thus was placed in the responsible position of guide to a family of two brothers and one sister, the youngest brother being but three years old. This duty she discharged faithfully and unflinchingly till relieved by her father's second marriage. While visiting her uncle at Cameron, Mo., she met O. S. ARNOLD, whom she subsequently married September 17, 1893, and removing to Cameron, Mo., lived there until the spring of 1895, when she and her husband removed to a farm which they bought and still own, on the outskirts of Cameron. After nearly seven years of farm life, they moved to Enid. O. T., and Mr. ARNOLD engaged in the sale of medicines in that vicinity. Finding the country distastful (sic) to them they removed therefrom, living a short time in Pawnee, Neb., but finally settled in Ottawa, Kans., where they purchased a cosy home and planned to make their future residence.

Thursday, August 25, she was called away very suddenly, leaving her husband and child, a boy now eight years old, beside her father and brothers and sister. The remains were brought here last Saturday night and the funeral held from the home her father, T. F. HIGLEY, and interment made in Evergreen cemetery.

Having been at home so many years in Fairfield, Mrs. ARNOLD has a large circle of friends here who were deeply grieved to learn of her sudden and untimely demise, and extend their sympathy to the sorrowing ones.
