SALINA, Ia. -- George F. ANDERSON Sr., 71, long-time resident of the Salina community, died at 11:30 p.m. Sunday at the Washington county hospital in Washington. He had been seriously ill the past week.
Last rites will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Salina Presbyterian church with the Rev. Robert Dameron in charge. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery at Fairfield. The body is at the Raymond funeral home.
George F. ANDERSON Sr., was born April 7, 1893 (sic - 1892), in Adair county, Iowa, the son of Andrew F. and Matilda STORM ANDERSON. When a small child he moved with his parents to Salina in Jefferson county where he was reared and educated.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War I, and was a member of the VFW and the American Legion post.
On May 14, 1921, he was united in marriage to Gertrude BAILEY who survives. The wedding took place in Missouri.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Nial DICKINSON, Ottumwa and Mrs. Arthur DICKINSON, Oskaloosa; two sons, George Jr., Salina, and Irvin, Burlington, Wash.; 22 grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Hardin FARMER, Orlando, Fla., and two brothers, Carl ANDERSON, Salina, and Harry ANDERSON, Lockridge.
ANDERSON was preceded in death by one sister, two brothers and two grandchildren.
