FREDERICK "GENE" BALL
Batavia

Frederick "Gene" BALL, 71, of Batavia, passed away Sunday, March 22, 2020, at his home.

Open visitation will be 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, March 26, and 8 to 11 a.m., Friday, March 27, at Behner Funeral Home.

Private funeral service will be held for the family with burial at Abingdon Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established and can be mailed to Rosalita BALL, 1839 Cedar Ave., Batavia, IA 52533.

Gene was born Aug. 10, 1948, in Ottumwa, Iowa, to Dale and Lois (GRISSOM) BALL. He married Rosalita HANEY on July 28, 1968, in Batavia at the Methodist Church. This last year they celebrated 51 years of marriage.

Gene graduated from Cardinal High School and attended Reisch Auction School. He served in the U.S> (sic) Army during the Vietnam War (sic - Vietnam Conflict). Gene worked at Cargill/Excel and after he retired, he was self-employed livestock buyer. Gene liked going to auctions and buying livestock. His inside interests were doing word search, watching rodeos and WWE wrestling. Gene loved his dogs,, Lucy and Cody.

Gene will be missed by his wife Rosalita BALL of Batavia; his children, Lisa (Tommy Ellis) HEISEL of Fairfield, Troy BALL of Batavia and Gina (Robert) BARKER of Keosauqua; seven grandchildren, Jesse HEISEL, Aaron HEISEL, Kimberly HEISEL, Samantha WINHEIM, Malachi WESTERCAMP, Ashley WESTERCAMP and Zach WESTERCAMP; one great-grandchild; and two siblings, Rex BALL of Milan, Mo., and Beverly HEWITT of Keosauqua, Iowa.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents, Dale and Lois BALL.
