Robert W. "Bob" BROWN, 95, of Fairfield, passed away Saturday, March 14, 2020, at his home.

Due to the CDC guidelines and out of respect for the family, there will be a private family service held at the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Beth Harbaugh officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery.

Celebration of Life for Bob will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church and mailed to Bettye BROWN, 400 S 33rd St., Fairfield, IA 52556.

Bob was born March 10, 1925, in Fairfield to Ralph Morrison and Hannah (KELLY) BROWN. He married Bettye Rose HISEL on Dec. 24, 1945, in Fairfield.

Bob graduated from Fairfield High School and attended four years at Parsons College. He was in the U.S. Army Air Corp during World War II and was the last of the squadron to pass away. Bob worked for 40 years at Jefferson Motor Company as an accountant. He was a lifetime member of the First United Methodist Church and served on various church committees. He was also a member of the Howard Johnson Coffee Club, Elks, VFW, and Couples Bridge Club for 50 plus years. He enjoyed golfing with his friends. Bob had a good sense of humor and was a practical joker. He and Bettye would go to Texas in the winter and when he was able, he liked to go camping in Colorado and hiking with his family. Bob was a Chicago Cubs and Iowa Hawkeyes fan and would enjoy watching college basketball and football. He took great pride in keeping his yard well groomed, gardening and would keep bird feed out for the birds. Most important to Bob was his family and enjoyed following their activities and sharing their interests.

He will be missed by his wife of 74 years, Bettye BROWN of Fairfield; his children, Ronald (Sharon) BROWN, Nancy HUFF, Barbara (Joe) McLARNEY, Phil (Cindy) BROWN, and Doug (LuAnne) BROWN; 11 grandchildren, Mike, Samantha, Kara, Benjamin, Ryan, Shawn, Jennifer, Amanda, Kellan, McKensey and Tyler; 15 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
