Second County Resident Dies Of Crash Injuries

BRIGHTON--A two-car crash that occurred at the north city limits of Brighton late Friday afternoon claimed its second life Sunday when Mrs. Ruby Frances GIBERSON, 67, died in the Washington County Hospital.

A passenger in the GIBERSON car, Ralph Robert Sr., 83, was killed in the crash. His funeral was held today at the Weston Behner Funeral Home.

Immediately after the accident officers said Mrs. GIBERSON suffered a hip injury and possible internal injuries.

Highway Patrol officers said Miss GIBERSON's vision was blocked by a parked truck as she backed out of a farm driveway onto Highway No. 1 into the path of a car driven by Maxie Lancaster, Memphis, Mo.

Both Mr. and Mrs. Lancaster were injured in the crash and were taken to the Washington County Hospital.

Mrs. GIBERSON was a resident of Salina. Services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Weston Behner Funeral Home in charge of the Rev. Alvin E. Nelson. Burial will be in Wright Cemetery.

Mrs. GIBERSON was born Feb. 4, 1899 in Jefferson County, the daughter of William and Florence PENN MARTIN. She was married to Harrison W. GIBERSON April 9, 1921. He preceded her in death Oct. 6, 1952.

Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Diane DERBY, Drakesville; and two foster children, James WIREMAN, Rock Island, Ill., and Mrs. Florence SLIEX, Yakima, Wash.

Three grandchildren, three foster grandchildren and the following brothers and sister also survive: Earl MARTIN, Fairfield; Joe MARTIN, Mt. Pleasant; John MARTIN, Greek Rock, Ill.; and Mrs. Lucile HAYNES, Bonaparte. One sister and one brother are deceased.
