Worthy of Commendation.
Mr. Charles Nelson, who resides about 2 miles southwest of Libertyville, has in the last 2 years had a series of misfortunes. His wife has been sick nearly all that time. In the last 12 months he lost his hogs with the cholera. Since early in the spring Miss Anna PETERSON has been sick at his house and died the morning of the 9th. Altogether Mr. Nelson has had a trying time of it. He had engaged threshers for the ninth. The extreme sickness of Miss PETERSON seemed to make it almost impossible to take care of the threshers and give attention to the work. The Selma lodge of Odd Fellows assisted by the Libertyville lodge came to his rescue Tuesday morning. They came with sufficent (sic) force to do all the work and provisions to feed all the hands. Several of the neighbors turned out and faithfully assisted. When they came together in the morning they found that Miss PETERSON had passed away. They were quite at a loss what to do but finally concluded to go ahead and do the work, which they did orderly, quietly and respectfully. When the work was done they raised money among themselves to meet all the expenses and in addition, handed Mr. Nelson a sum for his own personal use. Such generous exhibitions of human sympathy are deserving highest commendation.
