FairfieldMargaret Elizabeth "Betty" COOP, 93, of Fairfield, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2020, at Jefferson County Health Center.
Funeral service will be 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 8, at Lake Darling Lodge with Pastor Ryan Dexter officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be before the service starting at 10 a.m. Private burial will be at the Antioch Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Antioch Church or Antioch Cemetery. Cards and memorials may be mailed to Lynne LEACOX, 201 40th Ave., Bluegrass, IA 52726.
Betty was born Jan. 19, 1927, in Jefferson County, Iowa, to Russell and Evelyn (SMITH) SIMMONS. She married Bruce E. COOP on June 1, 1948.
Betty lived in Jefferson County area all her life. She was a teacher, writer and musician.
Betty will be missed by her husband of 71 years, Bruce COOP of Fairfield; her children, Mike COOP of Climax Springs, Mo., Steve (Jolaine) COOP of Brighton, Marcy (David) VENSEL of Bettendorf, Sheila STANLEY of Moline, Ill., Lynne (Eric) LEACOX of Blue Grass, Iowa, and Russell COOP of Fairfield; 13 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
Our mama loved life. Wife, Mom, Grandma, Great-Grandma, musician, writer, counselor and friend. She loved the Lord. All loved her! Her laughter, music, hugs and love composed the melody of our lives.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Russell and Evelyn; and one brother, Bob SIMMONS.
