Page 3, Column 7......James ORR was a native of Washington County, Penn., and was about seventy-three years of age. His years up to manhood were spent in this native county, and when the Seminole War broke out he enlisted as a soldier in the regular army and served a term of three years. He afterwards returned to Washington County and married a widow lady, by whom he had three children, two of whom, we believe, still survive, one a daughter living in this city. He removed to this county in 1846, purchasing a small farm about two miles southwest of town, where his wife died and where he resided until perhaps ten or twelve years ago. Since that time he has made his home in this city and with friends in this vicinity. For several years he has been quite deaf..... Deceased was a brother of Dr. W. L. ORR, of Ottumwa, with whom he had recently visited for some time, and an uncle of Rev. McCLINTOCK, of Burlington. The interment of the remains occurred yesterday, being held at the house of W. H. H. Millhouse.

June 6, 1894.“Names of Soldiers Buried Here” – James Orr, Seminole War, Died May 2, 1882.
This data has been transcribed for genealogical purposes; I am not related to the subject.
Admin. note: James was stuck and killed by a train, and the paragraphs from his obituary which are not included here provide rather gruesome details of the event. Per his obituary, and the inquest into his death, James died on Monday, May 1st, 1882, and not the May 2nd date noted in the 1894 article above.
His wife was Catharine (maiden name unknown) who was the widow of L. NEEB. She is buried in Old Fairfield City Cemetery, Fairfield, where it is believed that James is also buried; he does not have a gravestone.
