Page 2, Column 4WALTER ELLIS DIED AT HOME HERE EARLY THIS MORNING
Walter ELLIS passed away early this morning at his home at 806 West Broadway. Mr. ELLIS had been in poor health all winter and a short time ago pneumonia developed causing his death.
Funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at 1:30 o'clock from the residence. Interment will be made in Walnut cemetery south of Pleasant Plain.
Walter ELLIS was born in Iowa, March 6th, 1846. For the past six years he has made his home in this city and previous to that time he resided at Pleasant Plain.
He is survived by his wife, one daughter Mrs. Anna LYNN of Nevis, Minn., and a brother Isaac ELLIS of Whittier, California. One daughter Mrs. Alice FRAZEY preceeded (sic) him in death several years ago (note: in 1916).

Walter ELLIS son of Isaac and Betsey ELLIS was born March 6 1846 in Jefferson County Iowa and died at his home in Fairfield Iowa where he had lived almost eleven years. Aged 73 years, 11 months and 20 days.
He was married to Nancy CONNER April 28, 1867 who passed away October 20, 1889.
This union was blest with two daughters, Mrs. Alice FRAZEY and Mrs. Annie LYON. Alice passed to the beyond in 1916.
On Fep. 20 (sic), 1901 he was again united in marriage with Miss Abi HOSKINS.
He leaved (sic) to mourn his loss his beloved wife, one daughter Annie LYNN of Nevis Minnesota and three grandsons: Verle FRAZEY of Park Rapids Minn., Delmer and Ellis of Fair
John Thomas son of David and Diborah Laughlin was born in Des Moines Township Jefferson Co. Iowa Feb. 28, 1846.
He spent his entire life on the farm with his parents until the death of his father. Remaining with his mother until her death after which in 1907 he went to Panhandle Texas where he has since resided. During last fall he had typhoid fever from which he never recovered, finally resulting in his death Feb 23 1920, Aged 73 years; 11 months and 25 days.
He leaves two brothers and two sisters: Alexander C. of Stanberry Mo., Mrs. Sarah E. Beale Mrs. W. D Wilson of Libertyville and Hugh M. of Douds-Leando and a large nudber (sic) of nephews and nieces.
Funeral was held from the W. D. Wilson home Friday P. M. at 2:30 conducted by Rev. Stephens. Interment was made in Winsell cemetery. field Iowa. Also two great grand sons One sister, Sarah SMITH of Plain View Nebraska; one brother Isaac ELLIS of Dinuba California and many other relatives and friends.
He realized that he would soon be called home and often spoke of being ready to go and of the blessed assurance of "An abundent entrance thru the gates into the City."
He was a kind companion and father, and was held in high esteem among those who knew him best.
He answered his Country's call during the Civil War, served almost one and one half years and was honorably discharged.

Brief Review of Principal Events in Jefferson County For Past Three Months.… Walter ELLIS died Feb. 26, aged 73. Mr. ELLIS was a member of the famous Seventh Iowa Infantry in the Civil war. Mr. ELLIS had lived most of his life on a farm near Pleasant Plain.
