G. W. STEWART, 73, SUCCUMBS HERE
Lived On Jefferson County Farm Nearly Seventy Years; Came To Son's Home In Ottumwa.

George W. STEWART, 73, nearly seventy years a Jefferson county resident, died at 10:30 a.m. Sunday in the home of his son, James T. STEWART, 311 Manning avenue.

He was born in Jefferson county January 15, 1864, the son of James M. and Mary STEWART. Four years ago he moved to his son's home here after the long residence on a farm nine miles east of Fairfield.

Mr. STEWART had been an invalid for several years.

Surviving are one daughter, Myrtle, at Burlington, and her mother, Mr. STEWART's wife, Olga, at Burlington, and one son, James T. STEWART of Ottumwa. Two sons (sic - three sons) and two daughters preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. in Johnson's funeral chapel, conducted by the Rev. Fred W. Smith, First Baptist church pastor. Burial will be made in the Ottumwa cemetery.

ORIGINAL NOTICE

In the District Court of the State of Iowa in and for Jefferson County, October Term, A. D. 1937.

James T. STEWART, Plaintiff vs Myrtle FRISK (sometimes called Myrtle STEWART), and/or her unknown heirs, executors administrators and assigns, if any, and the unknown spouses of each and all of the above named defendants, Defendants.

To each and all of the above named Defendants:

You are hereby notified that on or before the 21st day of August, A. D. 1837, the petition of the plaintiff in the above entitled cause will be filed in the office of the Clerk of the District Court of the State of Ia. in and for Jefferson County, in which he states that he is the absolute owner in fee simple, as the sole and only heir at law of George W. STEWART deceased, of the following described real estate to-wit: The West ninety (90) acres of the Southwest quarter of Section Twenty (20), Township Seventy-two (72) North of Range Eight (8) West, in Jefferson County, Iowa, and praying that the title thereto be quieted in him, and that you be barred and forever estopped from having or claiming any right or title thereto adverse to the plaintiff, that plaintiff have general equitable relief, all at the plaintiff's costs, except in case there be a contest, then that the Judge determine who should pay the costs. For particulars see petition when filed.

And unless you appear thereto and defend on or before noon of the second day of the next term being the October 1937 term of said Court, which will convene and be held in the Court House at Fairfield, Iowa, on the 4h day of October, A. D., 1937, default will be entered against you and judgment rendered thereon.

Note: George was married twice, first to Leah Emeline HAWK who died in 1903, and second to Olga Helen VIMAN. Leah is buried in Upper Richwood Cemetery with five of their children who all died at less than one year of age. Daughter Myrtle is from George's marriage to Olga and was born in 1909. Son James T. is from George's first marriage.
