OBITUARY.

Editors Ledger:--Agnes E. LYNN was born in Jefferson county August 6th, 1873. She was united in marriage with George NEAL November 14th, 1893. Last spring they removed to Grundy county, Mo., where they were living at the time of her death. Several years ago she was converted and united with the M. E. church at Pleasant Plain. The summons came on Monday, September 25th, after an illness of but two or three weeks. Of Mrs. NEAL we may say, "Her sun is gone down while it is yet day." It is not always easy to understand why the summons comes to some so early in life, yet there is comfort in the thought that those who died in the Lord are now free from pain, temptation, the liability of falling, and are safe in the city of the blessed. The words of the poet bring comfort to those who mourn.

"O safe at home where the dark tempter roams not!
How I have envied thy far happier lot;
Already resting where the evil comes not
The tear, the toil, the woe, the sin forgot."

The funeral was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jasper LYNN, the parents of the deceased at 11:00 o'clock, Wednesday, September 27th. A large concourse of friends and relatives was in attendance. The remains were laid away in the Green cemetery (sic - Upper Richwood Cemetery). The husband and relatives have the sympathy of the entire vicinity in this hour of need.

Safe at home where the dark tempter roams not;
How I have envied thy far happier lot,
Already resting where the evil comes not
The tear, the toil, the woe, the sin forgot,
O safe in port where the rough billows break not,
Where the wild sea moan saddens thee no more.
Where the remorseless strokes of tempest skakes not,
When, when shall I too gain that tranquil shore?
O bright amid the brightness all eternal,
When shall I breathe with thee the pure air?
Air of a land whose clime is ever vernal,
A land without a serpent or a snare
Away above the scenes of guilt and folly,
Beyond this desert heat and dreariness,
Safe in the city of the ever-holy
Let me make haste to gain the early bliss.

The funeral was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jasper LYNN, the parents of the deceased, at 11:00 o'clock, Wed. Sept. 27th. A large concourse of friends and relatives were in attendance.
