LIFE OF CHARLES A. MONSON

Charles August MONSON died at the Jefferson County hospital, September 4, 1919, at the age of 78 years 4 months and 5 days. He was born in Kinda county, Sweden, April 29, 1849 (sic - 1841), and came with his parents to the United States of America. He grew to manhood in Jefferson county Iowa, an (sic) was married to Nancy A. DUNLAP, March 21, 1869, who preceded him in death 38 years. To this union five children were born: Mrs. Cloie D. COLLINS, of Fairfield, and Henry MONSON, of Salina, who survive their father, the other three: Prise MONSON, died August 4, 1876, Pearl died September 5, 1877, and an infant son died May 20, 1879.

Of the MONSON family there are but two sisters left, Lew HICKENBOTTOM, of Parsonsville and Rose TAYLOR, of Creston, Iowa.

Charles A. MONSON was a member of the G. A. R. and served in the 15th Iowa Infantry curing the Civil war.
