STEVEN WILCOX HATHAWAY
Fairfield

Steven Wilcox HATHAWAY, 71, of Fairfield, died peacefully in his home on Nov. 22, 2019, surrounded by family and friends.

He was born in Manchester, Conn., in 1948 to Melvin and Joanne (WILLCOX) HATHAWAY. He attended Loomis Prep School and was a graduate of Rutgers University. Growing up in New England, he loved to ski and was a four-year varsity hockey player. He enjoyed photography, Sunday football, riding his motorcycle and any project around the house.

Steve married Susan DONELSON in 1981 in Denver, Colo., where they lived until moving to Fairfield in 1987 with their infant son, Jon. Daughter Gabrielle came along a few years later. Steve was a loving husband and father, always supportive and fun to be with.

When asked for memories of Steve, friends share heartfelt stories of unyielding support and kindness, his sense of humor (or as the kids call it - dad jokes) and his innate way to liven up a room.

He became a teacher of transcendental meditation in 1972 and taught hundreds in the 1970s. He traveled for World Peace Projects in Zimbabwe, The Rhode Island Project and was TM area coordinator of the southern United States. From 1980 to 2010, he was in sales and marketing in the computer and telephone industries.

Steve is survived by his wife, Susan HATHAWAY; daughter, Gabrielle HATHAWAY; son, Jon HATHAWAY, and daughter-in-law, Becky HATHAWAY; sister, Nancy (HATHAWAY) STEENBURG of Connecticut; nepehws, Charlie and Tom STEENBURG; brother, Ted HATHAWAY of California; niece, Katie HATHAWAY; nephew, Cooper HATHAWAY; and his aunt, Vivian (HATHAWAY) CROUSE of Connecticut.

His Celebration of Life will be held at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 26, at the Phoenix Rising Hall, 207 W. Burlington Ave., Fairfield. Memorials may be sent the Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation or Maharishi School.
