BEVERLY BLAKLEY
Douds

Beverly BLAKLEY, 82, of Douds, Iowa, passed away on Nov. 28, 2019, at Keosauqua Health Care Center (note: in Van Buren Co., IA). She was born on May 7, 1937, to Earl and Thelma BRIDGEMAN STREED. Bev was raised in Libertyville and graduated from Fairfield High School with the Class of 1955. After high school, Bev went to school to become a cosmetologist. She spent 50 years working as a beautician and owned and operated Bev's Beauty Shop in Lockridge and Fairfield. Bev was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and was on the board of the Jefferson County Hospital while also serving as the hospital beautician. She enjoyed bowling, line dancing and working in her yard. Bev was a good cook and was known for her noodles, potato soup and raw apple cake. Bev will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

She is survived by her significant other of 22 years, Ron Watson of Duds, Iowa; a son, Michael (Karen) BLAKLEY of Libertyville, Iowa; a daughter, Darla (Eddie) GOODMAN of Jonesborough, Tenn.; two sisters, Joanne ROBERTS of Blanco, Texas, and Karen ROGERS of Branson, Mo.; four grandchildren, Samantha (Eric) GODWIN of Libertyville, Iowa, Molly BLAKLEY of Libertyville, Iowa, Greer GOODMAN of Richmond, Va., and Ryan BLAKLEY of Libertyville, Iowa; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Thelma STREED; a daughter, Darcy BLAKLEY; and four siblings, Paul STREED, Bill STREED, Virginia STREED and Larry STREED.

Per her wishes, her body has been cremated. A Memorial service will be at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4, at Pedrick Funeral Home in Douds. Visitaiton will be on Wednesday with family present to greet friends from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at Pedrick Funeral Home. A private family burial will take place at a later date in Evergreen Cemetery in Fairfield, Iowa.
