OBITUARY

Death at all times is sad, but doubly so when one of the household pets are summoned almost without warning. Little Martha Jean HORTON was the only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence HORTON, now living at Sigourney . She being a twin her brother Marshal Dean. They were born May 25, 1927 at the Jefferson County hospital and both were in their sweet babyhood, being of lovable disposition, they became the pets and joy of the home and also of the family neighbors and friends. Little Marshal had contracted a cold and after several sleepless nights the parents were weary and worn. They fell asleep to awaken in a few short hours later to find that their little darling Martha had turned her little face in the pillow and God had called her home and the Good Shepherd had taken their little lamb into his own keeping and will keep little Martha safe from the snares and pitfalls that might have befallen her here. She is now safe in the arms of Jesus.

The funeral services were held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the Parsonville church, conducted by Rev. J. A. Cochran of the Baptist church at Lockridge. The pall bearers were Misses Hazel, Ethel, Maxine and Florence Kriese of Sigourney. Mrs. Norvel Switzer, Miss Bettye Montgomery with Miss Reva Patton at the piano sang "Looking This Way," "Our Father Knows It All," and "Beautiful Isle."

Besides the heart broken parents she leaves four little brothers, Lloyd Lorraine, Carl Wesley and her little twin Marshal Dean who is ill with pneumonia in the Sigourney hospital. Which makes the sadness doubly hard for the love ones, grandparents and many other relatives and friends. The little casket was covered with beautiful floral offerings and she was laid to rest in the beautiful Union cemetery by the side of loved ones.

Those from a distance in attendance were Mrs. James Talbert of Denmark, Iowa., James SHAW of Burlington, Iowa, Mr. SHAW being Mrs. Clarence HORTON's father. Several drove down from Sigourney with the procession which showed the respect and esteem the family were held there.
