Grave Rites for Clarence HORTON

Graveside services will be held at the Union cemetery east of Fairfield Saturday for Clarence HORTON, 64, former Jefferson county resident who died Wednesday at his home in Des Moines (note: in Polk Co., IA).

Funeral services will be held at the Hamilton funeral home in Des Moines at 9 a.m. Saturday. The body will then be returned to the Union cemetery where the services will be in charge of the Rev. H. T. Rasche. The casket will be open at the grave.

Although HORTON had been in failing health for sometime, his death Wednesday was sudden and unexpected. He died of a heart attack.

Clarence HORTON was born May 30, 1897, at Lockridge, the son of William and Etta MAXWELL HORTON. He had lived in Jefferson county as a farmer for many years before moving to Des Moines where he was engaged in a printing company.

He is survived by four sons, Karl HORTON, Des Moines; Lloyd HORTON, Vancouver, Wash.; Dean and Lorraine HORTON of Tacoma, Wash.; and a sister, Mrs. Dwight MILLER, Burlington; along with 12 grandchildren.
