A former well-known Fairfield and Jefferson county resident passed away at a hospital in Aurora, Ill., Saturday afternoon after being in failing health for several months.
She is Teresa HAWKINS, 74, who was injured in a fall about a year ago and never fully recovered. For the past several months she had made her home with a nephew in Aurora.
The body will be returned to Fairfield for last rites and burial. The services will be Wednesday at 9:00 a.m. at the St. Mary's Catholic church with the Rev. Father O. F. DeCoursey in charge. Burial will be in Union cemetery southeast of Parsonsville.
The body will arrive in Fairfield at 7:55 a.m. Tuesday morning, and the Rosary will be recited at the Hoskins funeral home at 8:00 p.m. tomorrow evening. She was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic church.
Teresa HAWKINS was born April 19, 1875, at New London, Iowa, the daughter of the late Michael and Elizabeth McNULTY (sic - Michael and Elizabeth McNULTY HAWKINS). She moved to the Parsonsville community east of Fairfield in 1880, and for several years made her home with her brother.
He passed away in 1941 and soon after she moved to Fairfield where she lived at 305 W. Grimes street until she moved to Aurora several months ago.
Miss HAWKINS, the youngest of a family of nine children, is survived by five nephews and two nieces.
