JAMES HAWKINS DIES SUDDENLY

Aged farmer suffered heart attack while working on fence

James C. HAWKINS, 72, died suddenly of a heart attack Saturday at 2:40 p.m. while helping Victor Samuelson repair a fence at his home six and a half miles east of Fairfield. He had been in failing health for the past several months, it was reported.

He was born near New London, Iowa, on May 15, 1869 and had resided in the Beckwith and Parsonsville area since 1880. Surviving are two sisters, Miss Teresa HAWKINS, at home, and Mrs. Matilda COLDWELL of Aurora, Ill.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 9 a.m. in St. Mary's Catholic church. The Rev. H. M. Thoman, rector, will officiate. Burial will be in Union cemetery, near Parsonsville.

The body was returned to the residence today from Hoskins funeral home at Fairfield.
