MRS. KATE GRICE DIED AT PACKWOOD.

Many friends in this city will learn with genuine regret of the death of Mrs. Kate GRICE which occurred last night about 9-30 o'clock at the Sewart home near Packwood. Mrs. GRICE had been in ill health for a number of years and had been seriously ill since last March. Early this spring she went to the Stewart home for a short visit and her condition grew so bad that she was unable to be moved.

Mrs. GRICE was a native of Ohio and was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Adam GRICE (sic - CASE) well known pioneer residents of this county. She came here with her parents when a child and early in young womanhood returned to Ohio where she made her home until after the death of her husband some twenty years ago.

About ten years ago Mrs. GRICE came to Fairfield with her daughters where she has since made her home. Surviving her are four children, one son Louis GRICE of Texas, and three daughters, Miss Etta GRICE of New York City, Miss Clara GRICE and Mrs. Chester FULTON, both of this city. The remains will be brought to this city this evening and taken to the home of her daughter Mrs. Chester FULTON where the funeral services will be held.

Although no definite arrangements have been made owing to the fact that Miss Etta GRICE and other relatives are expected tonight, it is probably that the funeral will be held tomorrow afternoon. The interrment will take place in Evergreen cemetery. Mrs. GRICE, was a member of the First Methodist church and Dr. Thomas Osborn will have charge of the last service.

GRICE---Catherine Holcomb CASE was born in Mansfield, Ohio, Oct. 27, 1850. She was united in marriage to Salathiel GRICE October 9th, 1873.

Four children, consisting of three daughters and one son, were born to them. Miss Etta May, Miss Clara and Mrs. Chester FULTON, being the daughters, William L., the son. Miss Etta resides in New York City, William in Commerce, Texas, while Miss Clara and Mrs. FULTON reside in this city. Besides these surviving children, there remains one brother, George H. CASE of Mankato, Kans., and two sisters, Mrs. E. H. KING, of Denver, and Miss Lettie CASE of New York City. Mr. GRICE passed to his rest June 14th, 1888.

Mrs. GRICE has not been in rugged health for many years, but she has been very frail since 1906, when she suffered a stroke of paralysis, and yet a second stroke in 1909 and the third one in 1912.

Her death occurred at the home of George W. Peters near Packwood, on Wednesday, August 7th, at 9:30 p.m., whither she had gone with her daughter, Miss Clara, a professional nurse. Mrs. GRICE moved to Fairfield thirteen years ago. Though very quiet and retiring in her disposition, she had many friends who appreciated her true womanly worth. She united with the First Methodist church in this city by certificate in 1909. "Patient in tribulation," she endured until the end, seeing Him who is invisible." Loving friends bury her--not as those who have no hope--but in confident expectation of meeting once again, never to sever.

The funeral services were conducted on Saturday afternoon, at 3:00 o'clock, by Dr. Thomas Osborn, assisted by Rev. W. W. Montgomery, and were held at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Chester FULTON, on West Kirkwood street.
