Rita Arlene VanDerSNICK, 93, of Fairfield, passed away Friday, Aug. 9, 2019, at Sunnybrook Living Care Center. Visitation for family and friends will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 13, at St. Mary Catholic Church. Funeral Mass will follow at 10:30 a.m. with Father Nick Adam officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Lawn Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to ARC of Jefferson County or Camp Courageous. Cards and memorials may be mailed to Jim SHANK, 2078 Vining Unit E, Woodbury, MN 55125.

Rita was born Sept. 12, 1925, in Mount Pleasant to Howard and Cecelia (VanDerSNICK) KITCH. She married Michael VanDerSNICK on Jan. 1955, in Memphis, Mo. He passed away in Fairfield on Nov. 4, 2002.

Rita graduated from Milton High School, Class of 1943. She was a homemaker and sold Avon. Rita was a member of the following organizations, Eagles Auxiliary (charter member), VFW Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary, ARC of Jefferson County and a member of St. Mary Catholic Church. Some of her interests were playing cards, bingo, going to the casino and traveling. Most important was spending time with her family.

Rita will be missed by her son, James (Diane) SHANK of Woodbury, Minn.; two grandchildren, Shannon HINKLE and Shelly HINKLE; her sister, Shirley KITCH of Fairfield; and nieces and nephews.

Rita was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Cecelia; husband, Michael; seven brothers and sisters; one infant son, Michael; and daughter, Gloria DALTON.
