COCHRAN Rites Will Be Friday

BATAVIA, Ia. -- Mrs. Theron C. COCHRAN, long-time resident of the Batavia community, passed away at 2:15 p.m. Wednesday at the University hospital in Iowa City (note: in Johnson Co., IA). She had been in failing health for the past several years.

Last rites will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at the Raymond funeral home in Fairfield with the Rev. Kermit Black in charge. The remains will be placed in a receiving vault with interment later in Evergreen cemetery due to weather conditions.

Garnet Mae COCHRAN, 65, was born May 12, 1894, in Fairfield, the daughter of Joe and Fannie BOOTH SHELTON. She was reared and educated in Jefferson county and married on March 11, 1919 to Theron C. COCHRAN. He passed away Feb. 11, 1960.

Mrs. COCHRAN spent her entire life in Jefferson county, most of it on a farm. The couple moved to Batavia in 1947. She was a member of the First Methodist church.

She is survived by the following children: Harold C. COCHRAN, Fairfield; Robert B. COCHRAN, Libertyville; Mrs. Margaret PEARSON, Batavia; Mrs. Barbara McNIEL, Dubuque; and Dwight C. COCHRAN, Batavia. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren.

She was preceeded (sic) in death by her parents and one infant daughter.
