Page 1, col. 5.Oliver T. HOOPES Would Have Been 89 December 24; Funeral Tomorrow
O.T. HOOPES passed away last evening at 5:30 oclock at his home, 401 West Briggs street, after an illness of five days.
Funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2 oclock from the home and will be in charge of Dr. H. B. Scoles. Interment will be made at the Evergreen cemetery (sic. he was buried in Lot 1 by Lot 150 at Old Fairfield City Cemetery. The two cemeteries were sometimes confused in obituaries and even death records because they were adjacent to each other in Fairfield.)
Oliver T. HOOPES was born Dec. 24, 1836 in Ohio and came to this county with his parents when 14 years old, and resided on a farm 1 1/2 miles east of the city. He was married to Iowa E. Chandler in 1865 and to this union were born the following surviving children: Harley A. and Miss Hattie of this city, and Warner C. of Carrington, N. D. The family kindly request that there be no flowers sent.
