Martha Katherine FISHER was born December 30, 1922 in Elkader, IA. She was raised by her loving parents William and Katie BAXTER OLIVER. On December 24, 1947 she was united in marriage to John "Jack" FISHER. The two began their life together working side by side on the farm. Martha worked around the house and garden, as well as caring for the animals.

As time passed Martha adding loving mother to the list, as her and Jack became the proud parents to four children, Lonnie, Kathy, Linda, and Gary. Martha worked hard and made sure the children had what they needed, even if it meant her doing without. She came from the generation that wasted nothing. If it was torn, she patched it and it if was broken, she fixed it. Martha had a love for music and played the piano, as well as the accordion. Jack was a gifted musician as well, and they enjoyed their time traveling to music festivals and visiting with friends. Relaxation for Martha meant spending time quilting or making rugs on her rug loom. Martha was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend who will be deeply missed.

Martha was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Joseph OLIVER.

Left to share her story is her loving husband, John "Jack" FISHER of Fairfield, IA; four children, Lonnie (Nellie) FISHER of Bentendorf (sic), IA, Kathy (Dee) DECKER of LaFayette, GA, Linda (Leon) CONNELLY of Fairfield, IA, and Gary (Kamala) FISHER of Ottumwa, IA, as well as seven grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, and many extended family and friends.
