Lane D. BUSH age 87, of Fairfield, passed away February 23, 2019 at the Select Specialty Hospital in Davenport, Ia. (note: in Scott Co., IA.) Behner Funeral Home & Crematory are helping the family with arrangements.

Lane Douglas BUSH, age 87, of Fairfield, passed away February 23, 2019, at Select Specialty Hospital, DAvenport, IA. A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 A.M. Friday March 1, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Fairfield, with the Reverend Nick Adam officiating. Interment with Military Honors will be at Evergreen Cemetery.

A prayer service will be held Thursday, February 28, at 3:45 PM at St Mary Catholic Church, followed by visitation from 4-7 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established at St. Mary Catholic Church, Antioch Cemetery Assn. and the Fairfield Lion's Club. On-line condolences may be made to the family at behnerfh.com.

Lane was born April 2, 1931 at Fairfield. He was the son of Lawrence and Marie (SIMMONS) BUSH. He married Mary Jane BENDA on June 21, 1952. They are the parents of 5 daughters, 16 grandchildren, as well as 22 great-grandchildren.

At the age of 17, Lane joined the military, and retired after 43 years, as Chief Warrant Officer 4, serving with the Iowa Army National Guard, Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 224th Engineer Battalion. Just before he was to retire, he was recalled to active duty, as the Rear Area Operations Officer, during the time the 224th Eng. Battalion was deployed for duty for Operation Desert Storm. He also served for special duty in Germany, Panama and the Virgin Islands.

Lane served on many local boards and committees, including the Jefferson County Board of Education, Jefferson County Cattlemen's Assn., Jefferson County Extension Service, McElhinny House Foundation Board, St. Mary's Catholic Church Building Committee and helped organize the Veteran's Day services which are currently being held at FHS. He was a member and past President of the Fairfield Lion's Club and was a member of the Fairfield Elks Club.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Jane, and daughters, Jolaine (Steve) COOP, Colleen (Jim) CARLSON, Chris (Paul) BRIGHT, Karla (Russell) REBLING, and Terri (Randy) SMITH. Also, sisters, Georgia (Melvin) SOUZA and Karen (Larry) HALE.

He was preceded in death by his parents and infant brother, Donald Eugene.
