WILL CARRY OUT LAST WISHES OF DECEASED MAN. The last wishes of a former Jefferson County resident will soon be fulfilled through the efforts of Robert Cox, executive vice president of the Fairfield Chamber of Commerce. Cox has volunteered to scatter the ashes of the deceased man over the farm on which he lived before moving from this community over 50 years ago. The remains are those of the late Dr. George Haines Mount who died some weeks ago in Mexico City, Mexico. Before he died he told his relatives he wanted his ashes to be returned to the farm on which he lived east of Fairfield.

The Doctor’s son, John W. Mount, wrote to the Chamber of Commerce to see if the location of the farm could be located. Records at the Jefferson County court house show that Dr. George Haines Mount sold a 100-acre farm east of Fairfield at that time. The farm was deeded by Dr. George Haines Mount to John F. (T.) Hoopes on Dec. 31, 1913. It is the farm on which Isom Hufford now resides located on rural route 1. The farm is located north of highway 34 about a mile east of Fairfield. After locating the farm for the relatives, they asked if someone could be secured to scatter the ashes over the farm. Cox said he would fulfill the wish of the former local resident. The Chamber executive is now awaiting the arrival of the box containing the remains.
