Mary Margaret HAWKINS was born at her home in Appanoose County, IA on January 15, 1942 to John Jr. and Annabelle WEST MARVIN. She grew up in the country and attended school at Moulton-Udel where she graduated with the class of 1961. Upon graduation she moved to Des Moines where she began working at Principle Insurance. It is here where she met Dean HAWKINS. The two were married in Russell, IA on March 21, 1964. Together they became loving parents to a daughter, Sandra.

Dean passed away in 1966 and Mary began raising her family on her own. She moved back to Fairfield, IA where she raised Sandra. Mary was an avid card player, especially the game 31. She would have played seven nights a week if she could. Mary also like going (sic) with family and friends to the casino. Above all, she loved her role as a mom. She will be deeply missed by her family and many friends.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Dean (d. 1966) and two sisters, Peggy OWENS and Norma MORTENSEN.

Left to share her story is her daughter, Sandra DeHART of Fairfield, IA; one brother, Larry (Becky) MARVIN of Unionville, MO; four sisters, Eloise MATHES of Exline, IA, Marilene (Phil) WHICKER of Moravia, IA, Jenny (Vaughn) RUTH of Downing, MO, and Diana (Tom) BOGLE of Centerville, IA as well as many extended family and friends.
