Wanda Lucille BAAYEN was born June 10, 1924 in Eldon, IA to Cal and Selma JONES JOHNSTON. She grew up in Eldon where she attended school and graduated with the Eldon High School Class of 1941. She furthered her education after graduation, taking secretarial and business classes. Her path in life brought her together with Alden BAAYEN. The two fell in love and began their journey as husband and wife on October 27, 1948 in Reno, NV.

Together they became loving parents to three children, Connie, Mark, and Craig. Wanda loved her job as wife and mother. She also worked to help support the family as a secretary for the Cardinal School District as well as the Fairfield Glove Factory until her retirement in 1984. Wanda enjoyed vacationing in Colorado, as well as her 1984 to trip to Hawaii with Alden to watch the Iowa Hawkeyes. Alden passed away in 1993 and Wanda found comfort in her growing family. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, and will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Alden BAAYEN (d. 1993); one son, Mark BAAYEN (d. 2017); one brother, Robert JOHNSTON; one stepbrother, Glen BURKHOLDER and a stepsister, Marguerite FLIGG.
