WAS RESIDENT FOR 34 YEARS
Mrs. Emma MURPHY, 54, Died in St. Francis Hospital at 5 a.m. Today.

Mrs. Emma MURPHY, 54, of 312 South Ninth street, died in St. Francis hospital at 5 o'clock this morning after several weeks illness. She had been a resident of Burlington for 34 years.

Emma POHREN was born near Lockrdige (sic), Ia., April 6, 1878, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob POHREN. She came to Burlington when a young woman and was married here Feb. 8, 1899, to Andrew MURPHY, who died four years ago. She was a member of St. John's Catholic church and the Hawkeye Natives society.

Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Carl CARLSON, 312 South Ninth street, Burlington; her father, Jacob POHREN of East Pleasant Plain, Ia.; three sisters, Mrs. Charles KIENLEN of Burlington, Mrs. Charles GRAF and Mrs. William BEKEL of near Lockridge; six brothers, John of Keota, Wendell PFEIFFER of Valley, Ia., Chris of Lockridge, Vincent and Leo of Pleasant Plain and Pete of Fairfield; and two grandchildren in Burlington.

The body will remain at Burnett-Wallen's funeral home until 4 o'clock Sunday afternoon at which time it will be taken to the residence, where short services will be held at 7 o'clock Monday morning after which the body will be taken to East Pleasant Plain where services will be held at 10 o'clock.
