CAROLYN ANN ROACH
Duncanville, TX

Carolyn Ann ROACH, 67, of Duncanville, TX and formerly of Fairfield, IA passed away Thursday, August 23, 2018 in Dallas, TX under the care of Harbor Hospice. Funeral services will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at the Cranston Family Funeral Home in Fairfield, IA. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, September 4, 2018 beginning at 9:30 a.m. and lasting until the time of service. Burial will be held in the Evergreen Cemetery immediately following the service. Memorial contributions in Carolyn's honor may be directed to her church, Iglesias Del Senor, 610 N Tyler Street, Dallas, Texas. Carolyn Ann ROACH was born October 14, 1950, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She attended school in Fairfield, where she graduated from Fairfield High School in 1968. She graduated from the University of Iowa with degrees in Spanish and Russian in 1972. She taught at various private and public high schools in Iowa and Texas. Carolyn had a gift for music that started at an early age with the saxophone in the Fairfield High School Band. She joined the Scottish Highlanders at the University of Iowa and played the bagpipes, being promoted to Competition at the Sophomore level.

She performed at Iowa Hawkeye football games and various parades, notably the Macy's Thanksgiving parade in New York City. Carolyn loved to travel. She visited 18 countries in her lifetime. She paired her love of travel with her faith, participating in mission trips to Mexico, Spain, and Guatemala. She was a strong Christian and loved to share her faith.

Her love of teaching, combined with a positive attitude and contagious sense of humor, made her successful at whetever she set her mind to do. She was a loving daughter, sister, and friend who will be deeply missed.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her father, Maurice Urban ROACH.

Successors include her mother, Betty ROACH of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa; three sisters: her twin, Marilyn (Stephen) GRAHAM of Frankfort, Il and their children, Patrick, David, Beth, and Michele; Maureen ROSS of Fairfield, Iowa; and Marianne (Mark) NIENHUIS of Jamestown, N.C and their daughter, Christine; two brothers: John (Susan) ROACH of San Antonio, TX and their children, Regina and Erika, and Jim (Carol) ROACH of Houston, TX and their children Christopher and Chelsea; as well as nine great nieces and nephews and many friends.
