TRAVIS WADE "BACON" HYSELL
Oskaloosa

Travis Wade "Bacon" HYSELL, 41, of Oskaloosa, died Saturday, August 4, 2018, at the Mahaska Hospital Emergency Room. He was born June 16, 1977 in Stuttgert, Germany, the son of Robert Wayne and Joyce COX HYSELL, Jr.

He graduated from the Fairfield (IA) High School with the class of 1996, and then attended Indian Hills Community College for two years. Following school, he worked at Rubbermaid in Centerville for several years. On May 22, 2004, he was married to Leslie RYAN at Forest Lake Baptist Camp in Ottumwa. In 2006, "Bacon" began working on the line at Pella Corp., and continued working there and of late was a quality tech with the company. He delighted being with his family and attending their activities; playing role-playing video games and attending Renaissance Fairs.

His family includes his wife, Leslie HYSELL of Oskalosa; two daughters, Jade HYSELL and Sienna HYSELL, both of Oskaloosa; his mother: Joyce HYSELL of West Des Moines; his paternal grandmother, Nelma HYSELL of Allerton; two brothers: Rusty (Tiffany) HYSELL of Adel, and Christopher (Ashley) HYSELL of Corydon; a sister: Megan DOUTHART (Rusty CAMP) of Moberly, Missouri; and the "Big Teddy Bear Uncle" to many nieces and nephews. Also surviving is a close friend, Russell Ahlhelm; and in laws, Cynthia (John) THOMPSON and Craig (Rhuie) RYAN.

He was preceded in death by his father; and his grandparents, Robert HYSELL, Sr.; and Dean and Willa Jeane COX.

Funeral Services will be held Friday, August 10, 2018, at 11 a.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel with Reverend Steve Cox officiating. Cremation will follow the funeral ceremony. There will be a private family burial of the urn at the Allerton Cemetery in Allerton later. Visitation will begin at the funeral chapel on Thursday after 11 a.m., and the family will be present from 5 - 7 P.M. to greet friends and relatives. Memorials may be made to the Oskaloosa Public Library, or to the library of the donor's.
