DIES FRIDAY AT HOSPITAL

Mathias BRAUNSHAUSEN, 79, a resident of the Pleasant Plain community for 47 years, passed away last night at the Jefferson county hospital. Death came at 11 p.m. He had been in failing health the past month and entered the hospital Thursday evening.

Last rites will be Monday at 9:30 a.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic church in East Pleasant Plain, with Rev. Father Paul Wetzstein in charge. Burial will be in the St. Joseph cemetery. The rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. at the Hoskins funeral home.

Mathias BRAUNSHAUSEN was born January 6, 1870, in Germany. He came to this country when still quite young and later married Angeline REDLINGER on January 22, 1895. The wedding took place at Keota, Iowa. His wife preceded him in death on December 22, 1939.

BRAUNSHAUSEN had made his home in the Pleasant Plain community since 1902, the last 11 years of which were in East Pleasant Plain. He was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic church.

He is survived by one son, Leo BRAUNSHAUSEN, East Moline, Illinois, and three daughters, Mrs. C. A. CONRAD and Mrs. M. L. CONRAD, both of Fonda; and Mrs. A. C. PEIFFER, Fairfield. Ten grandchildren, one great granddaughter, and a sister, Margaret ADRIAN of East Pleasant Plain, also survive.
