OBITUARY

MRS. CLARA PETERSON

Funeral services for Mrs. Clara PETERSON were held at the Hoskins Funeral Home in Fairfield and the Salina Lutheran church, Tuesday afternoon, August 15, with Student Pastor Francis W. Johnson, officiating.

Mrs. Hattie Bates sang, "Going Home," at the funeral parlors and a double quartette sang "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere" and "Safe In the Arms of Jesus," at the church. Pallbearers were T. P. Johnson, Earvie Anderson, Carl Nelson, Carl Anderson, Ben Davis and Russell Bates. Interment was in the Salina cemetery.

After a serious illness of over seven months, Mrs. Clara PETERSON passed away in the Jefferson county hospital, early in the morning of August 11, 1944, aged 86 years, one month and three days.

Clara PETERSON was born July 8, 1858 at Lane, Ostergotland, Sweden and at the age of seventeen came to America. On October 29, 1885 she was united in marriage in Burlington, Iowa to Gust Oscar PETERSON, who preceded her in death in 1937. To them were born four children, Clarence of Fresno, Calif.; Mrs. Henry LARSON of the Salina community; Harold of Dever, Colo. (sic); and Maurice of Oakland, Calif., all of whom survive. She is survived also by three grandchildren, Raymond LARSON and Elsie Mae LARSON of near Salina, and Calvin PETERSON of Fresno, Calif., now in the armed services of his country.

Mrs. PETERSON was confirmed in the Lutheran church in girlhood and remained steadfast in that faith all her life. In 1906 she became a member of the Salina Lutheran church.
