Page 8, Column 1O. A. STEVER, One Time Resident Of Fairfield, Dies
O. A. "Sonny" STEVER, former well known resident of Fairfield, passed away Saturday in the Veterans hospital at Des Moines.
A resident of Newton for the past several years, he had been in failing health the past five years and seriously ill the past six months.
He had been employed by the State Department of Agriculture for 10 years until recently.
O. A. STEVER, 61, was born March 30, 1896, in Jefferson county, the son of the late J. O. and Emma STRUMQUIST STEVER. He was reared and educated in Jefferson county and spent most of his life here until the last 10 years.
He was united in marriage on Sept. 23, 1924, to Gladys BATES who survives. He was a member of the Methodist church and Elks lodge.
Besides his wife he is survived by one daughter, Sue Ann, at home; and the following sisters: Mrs. Ann NEWLAND, Batavia; Etta STEVER, Fairfield; Mrs. Ray RODIBAUGH, Keosauqua; Mrs. Tom TEAL, Keosauqua; Mrs. Leo DE KALB, Davenport; Mrs. Dell BEALE, Fairfield; Mrs. Victor LEACH, Fairfield; and Mrs. Nina BARR, California.
Last rites will be Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. at the Hoskins funeral home with Dr. J. Henry Teele in charge. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery.
Mr. STEVER was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters.
