Bruce Lathol GUY, 62 of the Brighton (sic), died Wednesday, July 25, 2018 at the McCreedy Home in Washington (note: in Washington Co., IA). Christian Mass will be 11:00 AM, Monday, July 30, 2018 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Fr. Bernie Weir officiating. Following the mass his body will be cremated and interred at a later date in the Sandyhook Cemetery. Family visitation will be from 2-4:00 Sunday at the Beatty Funeral Home in Washington. Memorials in the name of Bruce Lathol Guy have been established for the Brighton Fire Department and Hospice Compassus of Washington, Iowa.

Bruce was born September 27, 1955 at the Washington Co. Hospital in Washington the son of Lathol Allen and Joyce Ann (BENDA) GUY. He graduated from Washington High School. He was a lifelong farmer in the Brighton/Washington area. He was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church, Washington Co. Pork Producers, NRA, Knights of Columbus, Washington Co. Farm Bureau and the Harley's Owners Group (HOG). He enjoyed his John Deere tractors and Harley Davidson (sic - Harley-Davidson) motorcycles, hunting, fishing and hiking in the rocky mountains in Colorado.

He was bound to the land from the day of his birth
His roots anchored deep in the fertile earth
Nurtured, sustained by the soil he grew
And his life, like his furrows, ran straight and true.

Survivors include his father Lathol of Washington, brother Phil GUY (Toni Horning) of Brighton, sister Denise GUY/HIMES of Central City, IA; 4 nieces and nephews and 4 great-nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother in 2005 and sister Brenda.
