StockportCharles V. (Bud) HESTON, 87, of rural Stockport, Iowa passed away on May 26, 2018 at his home. He was born on November 3, 1930 to Floyd HESTON and Mary DOZE HESTON POOLE in Stockport, Iowa. He graduated from Stockport High School in 1949. He married Ruth HOLMES on December 4, 1955 in Donnelson, Iowa. Together, Bud and Ruth raised four children, Kimberly, Monty, Roxann and Charlie on the family farm just outside of Stockport.
Bud was in the United States Army, drafted in 1952, serving in the Korean War (sic - Korean Conflict). After his honorable discharge in 1953, Bud returned to Van Buren County and was a farmer and land contractor. He loved farming and was an excellent steward of the land. He was a member of the Elvin E. Cecil Post No. 147 American Legion of Stockport, Iowa. Bud was also a past member of the Cattleman's Association, Van Buren County Fair Board and the Land Improvement Contractor's Association. He especially loved his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and will be greatly missed by his friends and family.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth; four children, Kimberly (Steve) KELLER of Fairfield, Iowa, Monty (Shawn) HESTON of Birmingham, Iowa, Roxann HESTON of Stockport, Iowa, Charlie (Krista) HESTON of Fairfield, Iowa; six grandchildren, Chelsey BLUM, Megan HINES, Hanna KELLER, Kaytlin MOELLER, Shelby HESTON, Tyler HESTON; four step-grandchildren, Elizabeth HINKLE, Thomas BARTA, Cathleen WADDLE, Nathan BARTA; four great-grandchildren, Brooklyn HINES, Addison BLUM, Sawyer BLUM, Paisley BLUM; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Julia ANDERSON; a brother, Jack HESTON; and a half-brother, Roger HESTON.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, June 1, 2018 at Pedrick Funeral Home - Keosauqua with Pastor Danny Cary officiating. Burial with military rites will follow the service at Spencer Cemetery in rural Stockport, Iowa (note: in Van Buren Co., IA).
Visitation will begin at 3:00 p.m. with family present to greet friends from 5-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 31, 2018. Memorial contributions in Bud's honor may be made to the Elvin E. Cecil Post No. 147 American Legion of Stockport, Iowa. Online condolences may be directed to www.pedrickfuneralhome.com .
