Claremont, CARuth Eleanor (sic) GROSS nee COWGUILL, formerly of Packwood, Iowa died peacefully on May 21, 2018 in Claremont, California, her home of over 50 years. Ruth was the 3rd child of Jess and Hazel MOORMAN COWGUILL.
She was born in Fairfield on October 22, 1921. Ruth attended school in Packwood and graduated from Parsons College where she met her husband Charles GROSS. They were married December 24,1942 (sic) and she created a home while Charles was overseas in WWII.
After many years in Newton, Iowa as both Ruth and Charles worked for Maytag Company, Ruth celebrated the arrival of her 1st child Patti in 1955. The family relocated to San Diego, California where they welcomed 2nd child Jon in 1957. After moving to Beloit, Wisconsin supporting her husband's career, Ruth and her family settled in Claremont, California in 1963. In Claremont, Ruth raised her children, volunteered at the local hospital, enjoyed gardening, bridge and golf.
Ruth was preceeded (sic) in death by her parents, husband Charles Edward GROSS, son Jon, son-in-law Lee H REYNOLDS, and sisters Margaret BRUST and Mary CLARK. She is survived by her daughter Patti REYNOLDS, granddaughter Meghann REYNOLDS, brother Jay COWGUILL, sister-in-law Mary COWGUILL and many loving nieces and nephews.
Ruth will be buried next to her husband Charles and son Jon in Claremont, California (note: at Oak Park Cemetery, Los Angeles Co., CA).
