JANICE M HORRAS
Centerville

Janice M. HORRAS, 85, of Centerville, passed away Wednesday, May 9, 2018 at Golden Age Care Center in Centerville.

Jan was born to A. Joseph and Anita (HAMILL) KELLY on December 9, 1932 in Carroll, Iowa. Jan received her education from Sacred Heart High School in Monticello, Iowa, graduating in 1950. On September 27, 1958, Jan was united in marriage to Vernon HORRAS.

Jan worked numerous jobs throughout her life. Immediately after high school she was a type setter at the newspaper in Monticello. She was also a part time switch board operator. Jan moved with her parents to Richland when they purchased the Richland Plainsman and worked for them for a while. She also did seasonal bookkeeping for Ben Young Grain Bins and would later help her husband after marriage with cattle, farming and livestock sale barns. Jan loved to sew, quilt, read and be involved with her church.

Survivors include a brother, Kerry KELLY and 41 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon on December 9, 2015, parents, sister, Joyce BROWN and two brothers: Dennis and Kim KELLY.

Funeral mass will be 12:00 p.m., Saturday, May 19, 2018 at Mother Cabrini Catholic Church in Richland with Fr. Nick Adam officiating. Visitation will be prior to services from 10:30 a.m. until 12 noon. Interment will be in Friends Cemetery near Richland (note: in Keokuk Co., IA). Memorials may be given to Mother Cabrini Catholic Church in Richland and condolences may be shared at www.thomasfh.com.
