DEATH OF JOHN GREEN UNEXPECTED.

Many friends of John W. GREEN were greatly shocked to learn of his death which occurred this morning at 3;30 o'clock, at his home on North Sixth street and was due to typhoid fever and complications. As late as last night it was announced that his condition, while serious was thought to be a little improved, and it was not until midnight that anxious relatives were aware that the end was not far off.

Mr. GREEN was one of the best known young men of Fairfield, highly esteemed by all his acquaintances and respected by all with whom he came into contact. He was a machinist by trade and by a curious coincidence his death came on the sixteenth anniversary of his entering the shops of Wm. H. Pence.

Mr. GREEN was the second son of Mr. and Mrs. Lee GREEN, formerly of this city and now residing in Los Angeles, Cal., He was reared in Fairfield and received his education in the public schools of this city. In early manhood he united with the Methodist church and about eight years ago changed his member shop to the Congregational church, at which time he was married to Miss Harriet ANGSTEAD of this city.

For the past five years Mr. GREEN has been superintendent of the Sunday school of the Congregational church and has given himself to the work, carrying it on in a most successful manner. He has been connected with all departments of the church work during his membership there.

Mr. GREEN is survived by his wife, his parents, and two brothers, Delzell of this city and Clarence of Los Angeles.

The funeral will be held Monday afternoon at 3;30 0'clock at the residence. Rev. A. G. Graves will have charge. The members of Fairfield Lodge, No. 629, I. O. F. and brother Odd Fellows will attend in a body. The interment will take place in Evergreen cemetery.

This data has been transcribed for genealogical purposes; I am not related to the subject.
