Lola Leona CLARK entered this life on April 9, 1939 in Ladago, IA to Jesse and Ethel ELKINS BURROUGHS. She grew up in Southwest Iowa, graduating from Clarinda High School with the class of 1958. Shortly after graduation, Leona began working as a switchboard operator for the local telephone company. Leona had many memorable moments throughout her life, including a blind date where she met Robert CLARK. This was the first chapter in a beautiful story they shared together.

Leona and Bob were married on June 4, 1967 at the Coin Methodist Church in Coin, IA. Together they became the loving parents to three children; Sheila, Terry, and Mark. In 1974, Leona and Bob moved their family to Richland, IA where they fell in love with the small-town community. Together they started the Clark Standard Service Station where they worked side by side until Bob's passing in 1988.

While the life that they had created together had changed, Leona moved forward embracing the blessings that she had been given. She began working two jobs to help support her family but always made time to attend her children's events. She worked as a City Clerk in Richland as well as in the Fairfield Hy-Vee Deli for over 20 years.

Leona never knew a stranger. Whether she was attending Rubio Ladies Club, the American Legion Auxiliary, driving friends to medical appointments, or just socializing over coffee and tea at Loriann's, she always enjoyed great conversations with friends. She was an active member of the Richland United Methodist Church and continued her support of her family through the next generation, cheering as a proud Pekin Panther or Cardinal Comet fan.

Leona made the most of the time she was given. Throughout her life she was always willing to help, without expecting anything in return. She shared her quick smile and big heart with everyone she encountered, and will be deeply missed by her family, her friends, and her community.

Leona was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband, Robert CLARK (1988); five siblings, Jay BURROUGHS and his wife DeeDee, Marion BURROUGHS, Patty BAKER and her husband Alvin, Geraldine MAJOR and her husband Eddie, and Rose HARMS and her husband Winfred and two brothers-in-law, Vernon "Shorty" THOMAS and Charlie WILLIAMS.

Left to share her story are her three children, Sheila (Melissa) HANNA of Charlotte, NC and their children, Ashley (Cody) HENSLEY and Christopher "Calen" COOK; Terry (Amy) CLARK of Packwood, IA and their children Aspen and Mia; Mark (Lea Ann) CLARK of Eldon, IA and their children, Grant and Ben; one great grandchild, Mason HENSLEY; three siblings, Shirley THOMAS, Jeanne WILLIAMS, and Vince (Junell) BURROUGHS; one sister-in-law, Caroline BURROUGHS, as well as many extended family and friends.
