Died.

A. J. BOYD at Willow Spring, Indiana, where he had gone to pay his last visit to his aged and only surviving sister, accompanied by his youngest daughter, who was his only stay in his last sickness, except what his more distant relatives game him, But the monster, death, claimed him for his own. Mr. BOYD having passed the years allotted to man; he was born December 5th, 1819 near Richmond, Virginia, and died Sept. 16, 1868, at Willow Springs, Ind., his youngest daughter, Nellie, being his only stay in his last sickness, except what kind relatives could give which were tenderly lavished upon him, but, alas, he has passed from this world of trouble to the invisible beyond and his family and friends are left to mourn his loss.

He came to Fairfield about the year 1857 and has been active in business ever since except a year or two he was in Colorado, seeking a fortune in the gold fields, after which he returned to Fairfield and, in November, 1864 he was joined in marriage to Mary MONROE, a young lady of prominence in this city.

To them were born six children, four of whim are living and were present at his funeral Miss Nellie having taken the precaution to telegraph her brother in Missouri and her sister in Colorado from Indiana at the time of his death and Mr. BOYD of Mo., arrived here before the corpse and the daughter from Colorado soon afere (sic) the body arrived at the old home. The youngest son being at home having charge of the affairs at home while his father was making his death visit to his friends.

In the death of A. J. BOYD, Fairfield has lost one of its best citizens and his family a loss that can never be replaced. He was always kind and true to all with whom he came in contact; honest and truthful to all; never had trouble with any one. But he is gone. This world shall know him no more forever. Some one said: An honest man is the noblest work of God. Then, indeed, has one of God's noblest works been removed from amongt (sic) us, and Who shall stand in his place? But he is gone. We leave him in the hands of a merciful God, who doeth all things well.
